The Global Landscapes Forum invites qualified journalists and communication specialists based in Germany and neighboring countries to apply for its “Reporting on Rights in Landscapes” half-day media workshop on 21 June 2019 in Bonn, Germany.
The “Reporting on Rights in Landscapes” media workshop is an opportunity for journalists and communication specialists to improve and expand their understanding and coverage of rights issues, which are often fraught with complexity and sensitivity. The half-day workshop will focus on issues related to land tenure, indigenous peoples, local communities and women’s rights and their role in building sustainable development, rights of environmental and land defenders and the growing threats they are facing, as well as touching upon ways to manage the legal and political complexities of reporting on rights.
Participants will engage with experts and their peers in practical exercises and discussions throughout the workshop; they will also receive passes to participate at GLF Bonn and have the opportunity to liaise with and interview some of the leading figures in the environmental and sustainability arena.
Details:
- The workshop will be held at the Global Landscapes Forum office in Bonn, Germany. Provisional starting time: 1 30 pm local time.
- The GLF will cover the travel, accommodation and reimburse participants for their per diem after the event.
- Journalists from print, web, radio and television are all encouraged to apply. Women journalists and young journalists are especially encouraged to apply.
To be eligible, applicants should:
- Be working journalists, staff or freelance, from or representing an established media outlet
- Have a record of reporting on scientific and/or environmental topics
- Be able to understand and communicate in English
- Be available to be in Bonn, Germany on 21-24 June.
