Sabine is an ecologist and conservationist, passionate about sustainable community ecosystem management.
As a Veracruz native, she has witnessed the massive deforestation of her home-state, which motivated her to dedicate both her bachelors’ and PhD thesis to the study of the pervasive effects of rainforest deforestation in Veracruz and Chiapas states. Besides, her extensive experience working in Mexican rural communities has allowed her to understand the crucial interdependence of local community wellbeing and ecosystem health. This has made her an advocate for sustainable landscape management where biodiversity can thrive and local communities can have a livelihood from the sustainable use of their land.
