As an expert on sustainable development in arid lands and a leading ecologist, Boshra applies remote sensing and GIS to monitor and conserve Egypt’s resources. She has worked on desert development to benefit Bedouin communities in eleven countries. Salem helped found Alexandria University’s Department of Environmental Sciences, where she teaches and manages a remote sensing laboratory. Boshra is also a winner of the MAB Young Scientist Award scheme.
