Werner Kornexl joined the World Bank in 2000 as the Private Sector Development specialist at the World Bank Office in Brazil where he worked with forest landscapes, climate change and renewable energy. Subsequently, Werner helped create the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility and was promoted to Environment coordinator in Indonesia. Werner previously worked in the Brazilian Environment Agency and in several timber production companies as well as in and non-wood Amazon forest products companies. An Austrian national, Werner has a Master’s degree in International Trade (Vienna) and studied Environmental Economics at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (São Paulo).
