"Build up this upcoming Decade with us and contribute to it. All evidence and scientific facts are lying on our table and we need urgent action in the fields of biodiversity conservation and climate protection. We need to enhance food security, work on Indigenous rights and bring everything together."

Christiane Paulus

"Restoration can only succeed by involving communities and giving them the chance to use their traditional knowledge"

Daniel Kobei
Founder of the Ogiek Peoples’ Development Program

"Restoration of 350 million hectares of degraded land between now and 2030 could generate $9 trillion in ecosystem services and take an additional 13-26 gigatons of greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere."

What's on the agenda?

GLF New York 2019 will bring together a great number of questions concerning the potential of the UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration – as well as bringing together the right people to respond to these questions and to help to steer the agenda. GLF event participants will mix with the leadership of UN member states and other national delegates as well as restoration experts and researchers to learn from each other. Learning from best practices, the knowledge drawn from Indigenous Peoples and local communities, and coordinating efforts will be emphasized as well as input from youth on how they can contribute to the fight against climate change while supporting ecosystem restoration.
