Dr Mirjam Ros-Tonen is Associate Professor at the Department of Geography, Planning and International Development Studies of the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Adjunct Professor at the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani, Ghana. She works on landscape governance issues, particularly at the intersection with the producer end of global value chains such as cocoa and oil palm. Her research interests include integrated landscape governance for food security, sustainable livelihoods and climate resilience; the governance of artisanal and small-scale mining in forested landscapes; the interaction between forest governance and forest-based livelihoods; and knowledge co-creation and joint learning. She coordinates several research projects in this field. The geographical focus of her research is on Ghana and South Africa, while PhD supervision has also included research in Brazil, Honduras, Cameroon, Kenya and Indonesia. Ms. Ros-Tonen is Associate Editor of Environmental Management (Springer) and of Frontiers in Forests and Global Change, section People and Forests. Mirjam was visiting scientist at the University of Sao Paulo (USP), the Center for International Forest Research (CIFOR) and the University of Cape Town (UCT).
