Kelvin is a farmer and chairperson of an irrigation scheme. He is also a youth leader who founded the Lamargweny village scheme that is involved in clearing Prosopis from productive landscapes for cultivation. To date, over 100 acres previously invaded by Prosopishas been cleared and is being used for cultivation of various crops including maize, tomatoes and water melons. Under his leadership, the scheme continues to expand and Prosopisinvaded landscapes are being converted to crop production. His efforts to engage the youth in his community has resulted in a shift from over-reliance onProsopisfor charcoal production to reclaiming land for agricultural production and therefore improving livelihoods of the community members.
