Khyati Rathore is a Special Projects Manager with Defend Our Future – a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to empowering young people of all political persuasions who are interested in advancing climate change and clean energy solutions that grow our economy and protect the world for future generations. Her current work focuses on engaging young professionals and students to drive private sector ambition on climate action and policy advocacy. Previously, as a fellow with New York City Mayor’s Office of Resiliency, she developed methodologies to quantify the climate mitigation and resilience value of natural infrastructure assets in the urban ecosystem to inform the policies and capital investment strategies for the city. As a climate advocate, urban planner and architect, her academic and professional inquiry in the field of international development and public policy has been focused on addressing social vulnerabilities that exacerbate the impacts of climate change. In the past, she has collaborated with organizations and government agencies to analyze climate policies, impacts and cross-learning. Her experience in the global south includes her work on economic empowerment strategies in Indonesia and female and child mortality reduction in India. She has also actively promoted sustainability strategies as a youth representative with YOUNGO, the youth constituency of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
