Dr. Elke Mannigel leads the international team at OroVerde – Tropical Forest Foundation in Bonn. As a Biologist, she has worked many years in international development cooperation with focus on Latin America focusing on the interface of development and conservation of biodiversity. OroVerde is implementing international projects combining sustainable local development and restoration of forests and/or ecosystem based adaptation and agricultural practices. A goal is always to establish structures that will provide sustainability through functioning value chains or governance mechanisms. OroVerde, together with the Global Nature Fund, has conducted several case studies concerning the financing of forest landscape restoration, highlighting challenges and opportunities of these initiatives.
