Leander Raes

Leander Raes is an economist of IUCN, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. He is currently based at IUCN’s Regional Office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. He holds a double degree Phd in Resource Economics from the Ghent University in Belgium and the Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany. Leander’s main line of work within IUCN is related to economic assessments of Forest Landscape Restoration actions, including financial, environmental and social analyses, the evaluation of financing mechanisms for FLR, and the development of investment and business plans. He is also involved in the
development of LandScale, a standard to measure landscape-scale sustainability, through the provision of measurable indicators of the state and trajectory of sustainability at the landscape level across environmental, social, and economic dimensions.
