Digitizing the Innovative solutions to modern agricultural challenges: in conversation with fishers and farmers value chain


Whether they are capturing fish or cultivating cassava, farmers and fishers across the globe face many similar challenges. By adopting technology and applying creativity and a spirit of innovation, some successful projects have addressed these challenges. This session will explore how shifting mindsets, informed agricultural extension, and digital innovation can best address challenging local issues. Farmers from Mundri, Amadi in South Sudan will discuss how their food security has been threatened by destructive pests, livestock trampling on crops, and unpredictable weather conditions. Meanwhile, farmers and fishers in Colombia and Indonesia have faced similar challenges. Panellists and participants will discuss how innovation and behavioural change can be utilized to tackle these issues, strengthen resilience to climate change, and build fishers and farmers’ productivity, sustainability, and circularity.
