Emily Gallagher is a human-environment geographer whose research focuses on the social dimensions of landscape change. Emily joins the Value Chains, Finance and Investment (VFI) team as a Rural Development Specialist contributing to CIFOR’s pivotal work on inclusive and gendered value chains, sustainable commodities at agriculture-forest frontiers, and integrated landscape governance. Emily holds a BS in Natural Resource Conservation and Management (University of Kentucky); an MS in Horticulture (Cornell University); and a PhD in Geography (Clark University). Her prior research has explored landscape perceptions and preferences in agroforestry systems, rural development and extension science, and the political ecology of renewable resource management in the Eastern United States and sub-Saharan Africa.
