Sandapewuriche Mary is a Queen mother from the Sandape Royal gate of Damongo in the newly created Savannah Region. Being a Queen mother for over 17 years, she has been involved in leading and supporting women, youth and other marginalized groups in the society. She has been at the forefront of promoting social inclusion and gender mainstreaming into natural resources management in Gonja land and Ghana as a whole. Her commitment to gender equity and women’s empowerment led to her call to serve on the National REDD+ Gender Sub-working Group, a multi-stakeholder arm of the REDD+ architecture of Ghana responsible for spearheading gender mainstreaming into the Ghana REDD+ Process.
