From 2008 to 2016 Nanno was the CEO of the Dutch Development Bank (FMO), where he worked for almost 30 years. Before joining FMO, he worked in Peru, Mexico and Nicaragua. Nanno was Chairman of IUCN, Dutch Chapter until may 2017.
Nanno is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the andgreen.fund, which started its activities in July 2017.
The lending philosophy of the andgreen.fund is to demonstrate proof of concept for both public and private actors on how to provide for inclusive economic growth and forest and peat protection (and potentially restoration) when financing the production of agricultural commodities that are sourced from tropical landscapes.
Since February 2017 Nanno Kleiterp is the first independent Chairman of the European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI), a group of 15 European development banks financing private business in emerging markets with a joint investment portfolio in sustainable projects and companies of more than USD 50 billion.
Nanno’s passion is to contribute to a sustainable world, bringing together finance, business, governments and NGO’s. To create new viable business models at scale that protect, preserve and restore nature and that will contribute to the Global Goals, where institutional investors can to invest in.
