Dr. Daniel Murdiyarso is a Principal Scientist at CIFOR-ICRAF, who obtained a PhD from the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading, UK. He is also a Professor at the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology, IPB University, Indonesia. For more than a decade, he has led the Sustainable Wetlands Adaptation and Mitigation Program (SWAMP), which produces more than two hundred scientific articles, dozens of books and reports on wetland-related issues. Daniel was involved in a number of IPCC Assessment Reports. He served the government of Indonesia as Deputy Minister of Environment, and is currently the President of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences.
