Stella Paul is an India-based multiple-award winning environmental journalist, trainer, and mentor. Stella manages Clean Air Catalyst and STOP Spillover projects at Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and serves as a mentor for various EJN global reporting projects. Stella grew up in northeastern India, where floods rendered her family homeless several times – an experience that later drove her into environmental journalism. She has reported from over 30 countries of Asia, Europe and Africa and has trained about 600 journalists and women activist-bloggers worldwide. For her journalism, especially her gender-sensitive environmental reporting on marginalized communities, she has won dozens of international and local awards, including the Courage in Journalism award from the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) and the Global Trailblazers Award from the European Commission. She is also three times winner of Asian Environmental Journalism Awards and Indian Environmental Journalism Awards. Stella holds a postgraduate degree in Literature and a post-graduate diploma in Environmental Law, besides several Advanced Certificates in multimedia journalism, digital journalism and data journalism from reputed academic institutions including University of South California and Radio Netherlands Training Center.
