Nguyen Dinh Hung is currently the Head of Training and International Cooperation Division under Forest Inventory and Planning Institute (FIPI) of Vietnam. He graduated from Ha Noi University of Science and Technology in 1991. From 1991 to 1997, he was working as a researcher at the Center for Forest Information and Consultancy (now Remote Sensing and Information Technology Center) under FIPI. He obtained a master degree in 2001 and a Ph.D. degree in 2004 at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Miyazaki, Japan. During 2005-2007, he was a JSPS post-doctoral fellow at the Frontier Science Research Center, University of Miyazaki, Japan. He returned to work for FIPI in Vietnam from 2007. He is a nominated LULUCF expert in the UNFCCC roster of experts since 2015. He was the team leader for establishment of national forest reference level and also involved in the design process of measurement, reporting and verification for REDD+ in Vietnam.
