Josep Garí is a political ecologist dedicated to international cooperation. In the 1990s, he conducted interdisciplinary field research on the ecological knowledge and development struggles of indigenous peoples in Amazonia and the Andes, receiving a doctorate from the University of Oxford. Josep has been working at the United Nations for about 20 years, supporting a myriad of policy reforms, investment programmes and field projects for sustainable rural development. He has equally engaged in international diplomacy for agriculture and the environment, playing leading roles in the negotiations for the International Seed Treaty (2001) and the Congo forest & climate agreement (2011). Josep is currently senior policy advisor at UNDP and member of the management team of UN-REDD.
