Ermeto Tuesta Cerrón is an Indigenous computer, GIS, mapping and dituting specialist from the Awajún people (Condorcanqui, Amazonas), trained at Instituto Superior Tecnologico Metropolitano in Lima. Since 1998, he works at Instituto del Bien Comun (IBC), a NGO founded in 1998 to support rural communities, especially indigenous peoples in the Peruvian Amazon region, in the sustainable management of their collective territories (including their forests and fishing grounds). He is currently coordinator of the update of the IBC database (SICNA) in the regions Ucayali and San Martiín as a basis (baseline) for the project Responsible Land Policy and focusses on supporting the titling of indigenous communities through participative mapping; in addition, he advises indigenous organisations and various NGOs, projects or municipalities on related fields.
