Simon Bager is a Ph.D. student at Université Catholique (UC) Louvain, Belgium. Supervised by Prof. Eric Lambin, he researches how private companies can promote sustainable land use through their supply chains. Currently, he focuses on understanding sustainability strategies in the global coffee sector, and on how sustainability initiatives are implemented by private actors, explicitly focusing on Zero-Deforestation commitments. Beyond supply chains, he explores the implications of the SDGs on global land use, and how novel technologies, such as IoT and blockchain can be applied in the context of supply chains and sustainable land use. Simon’s professional expertise is in the area of land use, focusing among other things on agriculture, forestry and bio-based supply chains, including policy analysis and assessments.
