Yannick Glemarec has 30 years of experience in international policy development, large-scale programme management for international development, sustainable development finance, and climate change management.
He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Prior to joining GCF, he was the Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Programme for UN Women. In this capacity, he was responsible for setting the programming direction and guiding the planning, coordination, management and oversight of all activities and services provided by the Programme and Policy Bureau.
He also served as the Executive Coordinator of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office and the Executive Coordinator of the UNDP Unit for the Global Environment Facility. Glemarec also spent more than 12 years with UNDP in management positions of increasing responsibility in Viet Nam, China, and Bangladesh.
He holds a PhD from the University of Paris in Environment Sciences, and masters’ degrees in Hydrology and in Business Administration. Glemarec has authored and co-authored several publications in the field of climate finance, renewable energy, and natural disaster risk management.
