Rudi Putra, Conservation advisor of the Leuser Conservation Forum (FKL) a local NGO who manage more than 400 field staffs to protect and restore the Leuser Ecosystem, a 2.6 millions hectares of remaining forest in Northern Sumatra, Aceh, Indonesia. Rudi and his team dismantling illegal palm oil plantations that are causing massive deforestation in the Leuser. Rudi work including protect the habitat of Sumatran rhino, a species with 80 individuals left in the world. Rudi received Future for Award in 2013 for his effort to protect Sumatran rhino. In 2014 Rudi received the Goldman Environmental Prize for his efforts to combat illegal logging, forest encroachment for palm oil production, and policies that open endangered ecosystems to mining and plantation industries. In 2019 Rudi selected as National Geographic fellow. He has dedicated almost 23 years to conserving the Leuser Ecosystem.
