Milton Kanashiro is a researcher at Embrapa Amazônia Oriental since 1979, integrating the initial forest group at Embrapa, in the humid tropics (Belém, Pará, Brazil). He is a Forestry Engineer from the Luiz de Queiroz School of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP, Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil), masters and doctorate in forest genetics from the North Carolina State University (NCSU) in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Milton participates in committees, local, national and international commissions and coordinates research development and innovation (RD&I) projects on the topic of Use and Conservation of Tropical Forests. Currently, he coordinates the ITTO PD 452-07 Project – Sustainable Production of Forest Management in the Amazon and chairs the Management Committee of Embrapa’s Forestry Projects Portfolio.
