Jamyang Dolkar earned her post graduate degree in Environmental Science from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, India. Her research interests lie primarily in the area of environmental policy and law, gender studies, biodiversity conservation, and water resource management.

Dolkar has published a paper on Public Awareness of Environmental Policies in Bhutan, and contributed towards an explorative study on Improving women’s participation in local governance.
