Honorable Francine Tumushime is Rwanda’s Minister of Land and Forestry since August 2017. Prior her appointment , Eng. Tumushime served as the Coordinator of World Bank Single Projects Implementation Unit in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources. She also served for more than 5 years as the Director General for Community Development and Social Affairs in the Ministry of Local Government and 6 years as National Coordinator of IFAD funded project promoting rural small and micro-enterprises under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
For more than 10 years, Eng. Tumushime has been involved in projects and programmes covering agriculture, natural resources, rural development and social protection funded by both the public sector and development partners. In addition, Eng. Tumushime served on the Boards of Directors of a number of government institutions, including Local Administrative Entities Development Agency (LODA), the Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB), the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA) and the Rwanda Agriculture Development Authority (RADA).
Eng. Tumushime holds a Master‘s Degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Project Management from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands. She also has an Engineering Degree in Agriculture and “Diplôme de Candidature” in science from the National University of Burundi.
