Elisabeth joined GIZ in 2009 in Brazil where she coordinated the BMZ financed program on triangular cooperation (Brazil, Germany and third countries from Africa and Latin America) as well as the program on new partnerships between academic institutions and implementing organizations. Since 2012 she is based in Eschborn, Germany and has been working as a senior advisor on forests, biodiversity and agriculture for GIZ projects worldwide. She holds a PhD in forestry from the University of Freiburg after examining smallholder tree planting initiatives in the Amazon (Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia).
