Kristell Hergoualc’h is a Senior Scientist in ecosystem functions with CIFOR’s Climate Change, Energy and Low-Carbon Development Team. She has more than 15 years’ experience conducting research on climate change mitigation in tropical countries including Indonesia, Peru and Costa Rica. She specializes in the biogeochemical impacts that deforestation, forest degradation and land-use change have on greenhouse gas fluxes and carbon stocks. She is lead author of several IPCC reports, notably the 2013 wetland supplement to the 2006 guidelines for national greenhouse gas inventories, and the 2019 refinement to the 2006 guidelines for national greenhouse gas inventories. Her research interests are in forestry, agroforestry, agriculture, land-use change, peatlands, greenhouse gas fluxes and climate change mitigation.
