Dr. Kristell Hergoualc’h is a Senior Scientist in ecosystem functions with CIFOR-ICRAF’s Climate Change, Energy and Low-Carbon Development Team. With over 15 years of experience in tropical countries like Indonesia, Peru, and Costa Rica, her research focuses on how deforestation, land-use change, and forest degradation affect greenhouse gas emissions and carbon storage. She is a lead author of key IPCC reports, including the 2013 Wetlands Supplement and the 2019 Refinement to the 2006 Guidelines for national greenhouse gas inventories. Her expertise spans forestry, agroforestry, agriculture, peatlands, and biogeochemical processes related to climate change and greenhouse gas fluxes.
