Malaika Pauline Yanou is a post-doctoral researcher at Chalmers University of Technology in Goteborg (Sweden) and her work focuses on understanding the effectiveness of ongoing zero deforestation policies that are aimed at halting tropical deforestation in Cameroon, Brazil, and Indonesia. She holds her PhD at the University of Amsterdam at the Institute of Social Science Research (AISSR) and COLANDS project (CIFOR). Her research focus was on the contribution of local knowledge to implement a landscape approach in Kalomo District (Zambia). Previously Malaika joined CIFOR as research consultant working on landscape approaches, restoration, and food security issues. She holds an MA in International relations and diplomatic affairs at the University of Bologna (Italy) and a MSc in food security and development at the University of Reading (UK). She is interested in knowledge governance, decoloniality studies, and visual anthropology.
