Paola Ovando Pol holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Alcalá (Madrid, Spain), and is currently a postdoctoral researcher for the Environmental Economic cluster at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology. Her research interests include integrated economic and environmental analysis of forest management and land-use change decisions, their spatial and temporal effects in the provision of forest ecosystem services, and trade-offs and synergies among water-related services, carbon sequestration and market-based forest products. She is a member of the COST Action “Payments for Ecosystem Services (Forests for Water)”, where she acts as vice-leader of a Working Group on PES cost-effectiveness analysis. She is also a member of the Global Forest Expert Panel on Forests and Water of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), and guest editor of the Special Issue on Payments for Forest Watershed Services for the journal Water Resources and Economics.
