Dr Nikijuluw was the former Director General of Fish Processing and Marketing of the Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) and the Executive Secretary of the National Coordinating Committee of the CTI-CFF.  He initiated the formation of 11 Fisheries Management Areas (FMAs) that are now implemented in Indonesia, when he was the Director of Research Center of Capture Fisheries (RCCF),

He received his Ph.D in Resource Economics from the University of the Philippines in Los Banos (UPLB) in 1994 where he was awarded the Best PhD Dissertation in the School of Economics and Management.

Dr Nikijuluw has authored 11 books on fisheries management that are widely used in the fisheries schools and academies in Indonesia, including Blue Water Crime: Social Economic Dimensions of IUU Fishing, Fisheries Resource Management Regimes, and The Carrying Capacity of Raja Ampat Tourism. He also teaches at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and University of Pattimura (UNPATTI) and has supervised more than 35 master and doctoral students.  Prior to his current position, he was the Dean of Economic School, UKRIDA, Jakarta on 2013-2014.  He also has various experience working for Tuna Regional Fisheries Management Organization (RFMOs); Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT), Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC), and the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC).
