Dr. Medrilzam is currently the Director of Environmental Affairs in Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). He has been serving Bappenas since 1993 and had been appointed in various structural and functional positions since then. Besides those positions, Medrilzam as the Bappenas representative, had chaired the Indonesian delegation in Financial Climate Change Negotiations under the UNFCCC from 2005-2008, and also followed several International loan and grant negotiations between Indonesia and several bilateral countries and multilateral bodies.
He is one of Indonesia’s leading expert on forest and climate change issues. He was involved in writing many publications and official documents regarding climate change, environmental issue, and climate change financing. He received his Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung (1992) and holds a Master Degree in Professional Economic (1998) and PhD in Environmental Management (2013) from The University of Queensland, Australia. His areas of expertise include carbon policy and climate change, economic of climate change and financing mechanism, land management and spatial planning.
