Lucy Wallington is a Policy Officer in the Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy. In her role in the International Climate Negotiations team she coordinates the International Partnership for Blue Carbon. The Partnership, established by Australia at COP21 in December 2015, brings together governments, NGOs and research organisations aiming to protect and restore coastal blue carbon ecosystems for climate action.
Lucy chairs the Partnership’s Finance Focal Group, which is currently examining opportunities to raise investment interest in blue carbon and overcome financial barriers to scaling-up conservation projects. She also supports the Australian Delegation to the UNFCCC to engage in the Research and Systematic Observation negotiating item. Lucy studied Politics and International Studies at the University of Melbourne, focusing on the Asia-Pacific region, and has a broad background in international policy and program management, as well as experience in the tourism sector.
