Violet Shivutse is the Founder and Coordinator of Shibuye Community Health Workers and a regional watchdog group, which works with local authorities to actively enforce the land and inheritance rights of women and orphans in Kenya. She has more than a decade of experience building community resilience and climate change adaptation, and negotiating for gender-responsive and grassroots women policy change. She regularly trains women and local authorities at the national and regional level to utilize Local-to-Local dialogues and innovating community monitoring mechanisms to ensure that development policies are implemented in a gender-just and equitable manner. She successfully runs the Good Governance Coalition led by women that strengthens partnerships between authorities and communities.
