Antonio (Toni) Ventre is a Forest Engineer and served as Director (2002–2023) of the Forestry Sector of the Valdarno and Valdisieve Union of Municipalities (UCVV) in Tuscany, Italy. He has extensive experience in sustainable forest management for both public and private forests, focusing on projects that enhance forest-wood supply chains, hydrogeological protection, landscape and forest restoration, and wildfire prevention and control.
He has also led initiatives on forest certification, the valorization of ecosystem services, and local wildfire prevention strategies. Toni is the founder of the Forest Workers Training Center of Rincine and a co-founder of the Montagne Fiorentine Model Forest Association.Since April 2023, he has been temporarily assigned to the Agriculture and Rural Development Directorate—Sector Forestry, Agri-environment, and Water Resources in the Agriculture Sector of the Tuscany Region. In this role, he coordinates the Mediterranean Model Forest Network (MMFN) Secretariat and oversees regional, national, and EU forestry training projects.Since 2019, he has served as the General Secretary of the Mediterranean Model Forest Network on behalf of the Tuscany Region. In 2024, he became the coordinator of the interregional team developing the second edition of FOR.Italy – Formazione per l’Italia, a national initiative aimed at improving the professionalism of forestry workers in Italy.
