Sofia Faruqi manages the World Resources Institute’s New Restoration Economy, which supports the innovation and entrepreneurship needed to restore degraded forests and farmland around the world. The restoration economy mitigates climate change and alleviates poverty while creating value for investors and businesses. She created, designed and led the Land Accelerator, which is the first startup accelerator in the world focused on land restoration. She is also the lead author of “The Business of Planting Trees,” which was the most viewed WRI report in 2018. Sofia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Arabic from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. She is a CFA charterholder.
