Youth in Landscapes

Sarah Dickson-Hoyle is an ecologist, social scientist, sustainability educator and founding member of the Youth in Landscapes Initiative, a global movement connecting and empowering youth in forestry, agriculture and other landscapes sectors. Over the past five years she has co-led youth delegations and leadership programs in international science-policy processes and at conferences including the Forests Asia Summit, the United Nations Forum on Forests, and the Global Landscapes Forum. In 2014 she designed and implemented the first Youth in Landscapes Initiative mentoring program and has since coordinated conference-based mentoring programs in five countries worldwide, connecting over 300 youth and senior professionals to advance professional development, networking and intergenerational knowledge exchange.

Through her longstanding involvement with the International Forestry Students’ Association she has acted as Liaison Officer to the Centre for International Forestry Research; Mentoring Coordinator; and now leads the Forestry Education and Training Sub-commission. She is currently a PhD student and Future Forests Fellowship holder within the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia.
