Róger Villalobos, Soto is an Agricultural Engineer with a Master’s degree in Tropical Forest Management. After working in universities and private agricultural companies, he has been a researcher at the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) since 1991. From the Climate Action Unit, he conducts research, provides technical assistance, postgraduate education, and capacity building for professionals and community leaders on topics such as forest management, forest governance and policy, and forest landscape management and restoration, in several Latin American countries. He is the Academic Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Tropical Forest Management and Conservation and Biodiversity at CATIE. He is a technical partner of the 20×20 restoration initiative for Latin America, a member of the boards of directors of the Ecological Restoration Society in Ibero-America, the Costa Rican Ecological Restoration Network, and the National Commission for Sustainable Forestry in Costa Rica. He is the president of the board of directors of the Latin American Model Forest Network.
