Roberto Vides Almonacid, is the Executive Director of the Chiquitano Forest Conservation Foundation (FCBC) in Bolivia. PhD in Biological Sciences and MSc. in Wildlife Management. Has been president of the Tropical Andes Alliance and vice-president of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management for South America and coordinator of projects with the European Union, Natural Resources Canada and others. FCBC implements biodiversity conservation, forest resource management and sustainable development initiatives in the Chiquitano Model Forest of Bolivia in collaboration with other institutions, indigenous organizations and local authorities and has been the lead organization in achieving IUCN Marseille Congress Resolution 006 declaring the tropical dry forests of South America a conservation priority due to deforestation and forest fires.
