Rebeca Z. Gyumi is the founder and executive director of the Msichana Initiative, which aims to empower girls through education and address challenges that limit their right to education. In 2016, she challenged the Marriage Act in Tanzania, which allowed girls as young as 14 to be married with their parents’ consent, and the legal minimum age was raised to 18 for both boys and girls as a result.
