Pavel is the President of Batani Foundation – the International Indigenous Fund for Development and Solidarity. A Russian indigenous rights activist of Udege nationality, Sulyandziga was a member of the UN Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises, tasked with disseminating the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Until 2010, he was the first vice-president of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North (RAIPON) and a member of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
