Privileged and proud of working for the planet and humanity, Patrick P. Kalas is a political ecologist, optimistic environmentalist and development cooperation practitioner. He has 20 years of experience catalyzing progress in 80 projects across 40 countries addressing the nexus between the environment, food, agriculture and socio-economic development. Currently at the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), he focuses on the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) portfolio tackling the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Authoring several practical “how-to” methodologies and peer-reviewed papers, he represents FAO on technical task forces and earned degrees from ETH Zurich, Graduate Institute Geneva and Harvard University.
