Dr. Nur Hygiawati Rahayu is Director of forestry and water resource conservation of Ministry of National Development Planning in Indonesia (BAPPENAS). Her role is to coordinate, formulate, monitor, and evaluate the policy, national development plan, and strategy on forestry and water resource conservation. She holds PhD in environmental economics from University in Queensland, Australia, of which she investigated on influencing factors of farmers and consumers in entering organic industry to be used in developing organic friendly policies. Mrs. Rahayu has experienced about 20 years in National Development Planning Agency and worked closely on the environmental issues including climate change, forestry, marine and fisheries, environment, water resources, and forest environmental services. She was a member of Indonesia’s delegates on Climate Talks in Europe and Asia, COP 15 UNFCCC Paris, UNFCCC meetings in Panama, as well as a panelist in various international forums and conferences, such as High level political forum of SDGs and UNFF in New York, localizing SDGs in South Korea and many more. Prior to her current position, Dr. Rahayu involved on various national projects on National Actin Plan on MDGs, National Plan on GHGs emission, National strategy on REDD+, Indonesian responses to climate change, Indonesia country natural resources environmental analysis and other projects relating to climate change.
