Muhammed Hydara is an environmental and human rights activist who has dedicated his life to protecting the environment and advocating for human rights. Growing up in The Gambia, he was always deeply connected to nature and felt a strong sense of responsibility towards his community.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The University of The Gambia, Hydara joined Gambia Ocean Heroes as the Coordinator, where he led initiatives to protect marine ecosystems and promote sustainable fishing practices. He then became the Secretary General of the Gambia Environmental Alliance, where he played a crucial role in raising awareness about climate change and organizing various campaigns.
In addition to his environmental activism, Hydara is also committed to human rights. As the President of Amnesty International Kanifing Municipality Group, he advocates for justice, equality, and the protection of human dignity. He inspires and empowers young people through his voluntary activities and mentorship programs, nurturing a new generation of climate activists and human rights defenders.
Hydara’s leadership style is characterized by empathy, resilience, and inclusivity, earning him widespread respect and admiration both locally and internationally. His journey as a peatland speaker serves as an inspiration to all those who strive to make the world a better place.
