Mmakwena Moesi is the Co-founder and managing director of Viva Organica, a green business in Gaborone, Botswana established in 2018 that remediates organic waste to manufacture high performance organic fertilizers for smallholder farmers to strengthen their resilience in growing drought tolerant and nutrient dense crops. Mmakwena holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and is passionate about coordinating climate action oriented business and projects in Climate change research and adaptation work. She is responsible for planning, sales, marketing, logistics and overall operations of the fertilizer plant of which has impacted over 200 farmers and natural fertility of 1000 hectares of farmland have been restored by the uptake and use of the company’s organic fertilizers in the space of 2 years.
