Mery Salazar is a 60 years old Ecuadorian living in the province of Sucumbios in the Kichwa community of Puyupungu. She has worked as a traditional midwife, helping many people in different Kichwa communities for 28 years and has also been a leader of the Women working to strengthen the group of women in her community and the organization of AMKISE. Her work has been based on the use of ancestral medicine, elaboration of handicrafts in clay, boya and fabrics, use of clothing and maintaining the Kichwa language. Her greatest achievement is to have reached the women of my nationality with my knowledge.
