Marlène Elias is a Gender Specialist at Bioversity International and the Gender Research Coordinator for the CGIAR Research Program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry. She is also the Gender Focal Point for the CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems’s Flagship on Restoration of Degraded Lands. Marlène has a BSc in Biology and Environmental Sciences, and an MA and PhD in Geography. She takes a political ecology lens to study gender in relation to forest management and restoration, and forest/agri-food value chains in West Africa and South and Central Asia. Among other positions, Marlène has worked in UNESCO’s Division for Gender Equality, at Université Laval, and in the Environmental Department of the city of Laval, in Canada.
