María Steffanny Bashi Pizarro, is a Peruvian forestry engineer with nine years of experience, seven of which have been dedicated to projects related to the conservation of forest landscapes, with a focus on the well-being of the local communities. She is a firm believer that forest conservation must go hand in hand with the well-being of the communities that depend on them. Throughout her career, she has worked with various stakeholders in the integrated management of forest landscapes and their biodiversity, focusing especially on direct forest users in key areas of the Peruvian Amazon. These stakeholders include rural communities, Indigenous Peoples, youth, and small-scale coffee and cocoa producers. She holds a master’s degree in Forest and Biodiversity Management and Conservation (2022–2023). She currently coordinates an initiative aimed at strengthening the participation of Indigenous peoples in Peru in the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework at the national level.
