Mahamat worked for more than 15 years in the field of environment, climate change adaptation and mitigation, business development and private sector. His main area of interest is in climate change adaptation and mitigation, vulnerability reduction and the prevention/mitigation of disaster and climate-related adverse impacts. Previous positions include Senior Climate Change specialist at Adaptation Fund (current position), Operations Coordinator at the Office of Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, Senior Climate Change Officer and GEF coordinator for the African Development Bank (AfDB), Investment Officer with the AfDB Private Sector Department and Project Officer with the French Development Agency (AFD). Mahamat holds a Master of Economic Analysis and Sustainable Development in Developing countries from the University of Auvergne (France) and a Post-Graduate in Investment Appraisal and Project Management from Bradford University (UK).
