Lúcia Jurado

Lúcia Jurado, is a biologist and conservation leader with more than 25 years of experience in environmental management, biodiversity conservation and sustainable agriculture. She graduated from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (USAC) and has served as Executive Director of the Inter-American Foundation for Tropical Research (FIIT) since 2015. Throughout her career, she has led and contributed to scientific research, protected area designation processes, environmental education programs and sustainable land-use initiatives across Guatemala. Lucía has also worked as a lead auditor for Rainforest Alliance certification and as a verifier for C.A.F.E. Practices and Nespresso AAA schemes. She is actively involved in national conservation and sustainability networks, including the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) and the Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources and the Environment in Guatemala.
