Louise Mair

Research Associate
Newcastle University

Louise is a post-doctoral researcher at Newcastle University (UK), working on species conservation science and policy and an active member of the IUCN SSC Post-2020 Biodiversity Task Force, which aims to inform species conservation targets in the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) post-2020 global biodiversity framework. She collaborates with colleagues across IUCN and engage directly with policy makers through the CBD.

Her research background is in macro-ecology. During her PhD she quantified changes in the distribution and abundance of British butterfly species to climate change. Following that, she held a post-doctoral position at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala, where she modelled changes in the distribution of forest-dependent species in response to climate and land use change.
